About Me
Miranda Grattan (she/her), MSW, RSW, SEP
Member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers
My practice is committed to recognizing, and drawing upon the inner oasis of wisdom, resiliency, and capacity that resides within each individual and group that I work collaboratively with.

As a therapist
As a private therapist, I offer a focused approach for in-person and virtual sessions with the Somatic Experiencing (SE) method. SE is a body-orientated therapeutic model developed by Dr. Peter Levine, which supports healing and recovery from trauma and other conditions related to stress.

I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the BCCSW (#13881) with extensive experience working with children, youth, adults, families and professional communities in various areas of focus, including chronic pain, substance use, grief, chronic stress, and trauma.

As an Approved Session Provider with Somatic Experiencing International, I am also able to offer sessions for Beginner level students of the Somatic Experiencing Professional Program.
Whether in the context of teaching or practice, I apply a collaborative and strengths-based approach, with an emphasis on the human capacity for learning, healing, resiliency, and expansion in their lives.

As a Trainer
In 2013, I travelled to Krakow Poland to complete the Training New Trainers and become a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), which is an internationally respected organization that supports quality assurance in the practice, research and teaching of Motivational Interviewing (MI).

I integrate my trauma-focused work into MI training delivery by discussing the neurobiological mechanisms of motivation as they function through the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS). This unique perspective offers an explanation of how MI offers an effective framework in encounters where chronic stress, adversity, and trauma may impact an individual’s relationship toward a change/goal.
